  Awaiting Vice President Turai?

Meanwhile, those awaiting the Vice-Presidency of Turai Yar’Adua should look and think of other options for solving the present political dilemma.  It would be a callous hard sell to consider her rise from First Lady to the Vice President feasible.  Even the northern establishment would find that a hard nut to swallow.  I’ve been wrong before, but on this one, I will bet my last dime. Meanwhile, to paraphrase in those unmemorable words of Evita Peron, “Don’t cry for me, Nigeria” – surely, we need not sing that song along with our other travails and tribulations.

M. O. ENE:

Repositioning UNN

Nigerians love to pray. Prayer is good. The last VC Chinedu Nebo is a reverend, and his counsel and connections are okay. Professor Okolo needs more than prayers to clean a system where some professors no longer profess but provoke problems, where some teachers no longer teach but track troubles, where some students no longer study but sow stained seeds. Luckily, these so-called “miscreant” elements are in the minority.
